Most of the 14-acre property at Hanging Mountain has been designated as Priority Habitat by MassWildlife’s Natural Heritage & Endangered Species Program (NHESP). As a result, Hanging Mountain and any work performed there is heavily regulated to ensure that the WMCC is in compliance with the Massachusetts Endangered Species Act and Wetlands Protection Act.

Description

Begin uphill at the far right end of the Acorn Face. Stem up a narrow seam with small flakes inside. Slight right to another seam that leads to the anchors. This is often wet.

Location

Begin at the right end of the Acorn Face above a stone staircase.

I might have done the transition from the first section to second wrong...stepped left to the big ledge. Then found it very challenging, for the grade, to make that one move back across. Maybe went too far left at the top of the first seam?, then I had to go back across and found it quite reachy with limited foot options. I must try again, for proper route beta development, as this was the lowest grade I tried today. : ) Jul 28, 2024
