Emotion Sickness

FA: Micah Elconin, 2020
Oregon > Willamette Valley > Eagles Rest > (E) Sun Deck

Description

Do your best to not waste a single drop of energy during the moderate intro.  Then follow green lichened rock through steep terrain. Big moves on mostly positive holds builds a nauseating pump for the head wall above.

Clip leader's rope back into lowest chain draw when lowering to avoid getting stuck in space.

Location

Begins at middle anchor on belay ledge.

The descent to the ledge is very chossy.  Always check fixed lines and be aware of those below you.

Protection

Bolts to sport lower off.

Permadraws through the steepest part, bring at least more 8 draws for the start and finish.

[Hide Comment] Funnest route I've done at Eagles Rest, classic anywhere. Nicely sustained on unique features, moves like you're slapping macros at the gym. Really surprising that these haven't gotten more action, the sundeck is where it's at.

When the final face is wet (frequently) we uncovered a slightly harder way to thread through dry rock just left of the bolt line. Feb 15, 2023

[Hide Comment] Great movement, aesthetic rock, and a beautiful setting. The fun powerful movement followed by a few bolts of enjoyable slab creates great contrast within the experience. I agree with JD. This deserves more traffic! Oct 30, 2023

[Hide Comment] Absolutely awesome route! Cannot recommend this one enough, the sun deck provides yet again. Powerful moves down low lead to a fun red point crux right where it flattens out! May 30, 2024

[Hide Comment] Phenomenal route, classic anywhere. With no particularly hard moves anywhere on it, this thing is one of the purest fitness tests around, and the position is one of the very best to be had at Eagle's Rest. Mar 9, 2025
