Access Issue: Bridges Out! IMPORTANT LADWP NEGOTIATIONS!!
Details
Due to liability concerns, bridges are being removed in the Owens River Gorge at the request of LADWP. The Bishop Area Climbers Coalition and the Access Fund are currently in negotiations with LADWP to get this issue resolved. In the meantime, please continue to be good land stewards by respecting these bridge closures and finding alternate crossing points until this issue is resolved.
1) Never park or camp overnight at the access points.
2) Always park off the pavement, taking great care to avoid blocking the gates.
3) Clean up after your dogs. (Local climbers are finding abandoned doggie poop bags.)
4) Pack out all trash and TP, including picking up after others.
5) Use the outhouses if at all possible.
Description
Scramble up the corner with jugs and good feet. Pass the Too Proud to Ignore crack on the right and continue up until you hit the roof. Instead of heading on the slab to the left(Delicate Mechanism), continue up into a stem just right of the roof. Get your feet up and make a powerful lie back move into a small left hand crimp. Then, jump with your right to the top of the Too Proud to Ignore crack. Make the easy mantle and finish at the chains. This route only has 1 or 2 hard move, hence, “Too Proud to Boulder.”
Location
This route is at the Upper Gorge in the Dihedral area. Between Too Proud To Ignore on the right and Delicate Mechanism on the left, although they all share the same start. To set up a TR you can warm up on Too Proud to Boast 5.9 and set up the TR on the chains. From there, Too Proud to Boulder is just around the arête to the left.
