Tunnel 1 closure
For more details visit: jeffco.us/open-space/alerts…
The two areas Jefferson County Open Space intends to close in Clear Creek Canyon, shown on the attached maps, encompass the active eagle nests. If the Clear Creek eagles continue to nest in the active nests, these areas will remain closed from February 1 through July 31. If the eagles choose different nesting sites, the closures will be adjusted accordingly to protect those eagles during their breeding season.
Currently, rock climbing areas that fall inside of the seasonal raptor closures include:
Blonde Formation
Bumbling Stock
Evil Area
Ghost Crag
Highlander
Skinny Legs
Stumbling Block
Tetanus Garden
Fault Caves
Description
Trash Panda is a wild roof climb out a completely horizontal roof. There is some choss rock on the bottom (sense the 1 star). This route will need to clean up before its to most people's liking (the crux is clean and 100% safe), but for those who like a little adventure (and grime), this is a fun route that gets a lot of shade in the summer - perfect for hot days. After it gets some ascents, it will probably deserve more stars.
Location
This route is actually not on the same formation as the other routes on this page - it's located at the top of the hill just above the tunnel that connects Primo and Creekside. Park on the east side of the tunnel (walk up just right of the tunnel toward the power lines and the saddle between the two rock towers)... the climb is obvious from the there. It is located to your south (left), and the route faces north.
