Franco-American Omelette

5.8, Sport, TR, 40 ft (12 m),  Avg: 2.4 from 18 votes
FA: Jean DeLataillade & Luke Laeser - February 2021
New Mexico > Los Alamos & Wh… > White Rock > Overlook > Lower Buttress

Description

Left-most route on the lower buttress.  Hardest up to and passing the first bolt, then easier (less steep, with big holds) above.  The start might be a touch easier if you climb it from the right rather than directly.

Location

Left-most bolted line on the lower buttress.

Protection

4 bolts to a 2-bolt anchor (no chains currently, scramble around to retrieve your own gear)

[Hide Comment] Jean DeLataillade and I bolted this last week and are calling it the Franco-American Omelette. We thought it seemed fun, 5.8ish, 5.7 is fine too. A little chossy stemming at the start on knobular holds to easy pockets, to big ledge at the top with a typical chainless anchor, now common throughout White Rock. Enjoy! Mar 4, 2021

[Hide Comment] Thanks for putting this up Jean and Luke. It’s been years (more than a decade...ugh), since I lived nearby and was a regular here, but I can’t wait to come back with my kids, and this kind of route (and the Gallows) will be great for them. Cheers. Mar 4, 2021
[Hide Comment] Another poorly bolted route at the overlook. Don't ground going to the 2nd bolt if you slip or miss the clip. And how do you bolt a route post it to MP without putting chains and mussy hooks on it? Hurry up and install chains and lower offs already. May 24, 2021

[Hide Comment] Hi USux, to be clear, I didn’t bolt this route, I just posted it after I climbed it knowing nothing about it, so that other people would know about how hard it was and that there was another bolted climb on the cliff. May 24, 2021
