Please avoid raptor nests. El Cajon Mountain- Golden Eagles nested successfully at this site in 2009, after relocating twice between alternate nest sites. The Golden Eagle nest at El Cajon Mountain was not successful in Spring 2010. This nest was successful and fledged young in 2011 - 2021. Details from USFS posted here: fs.usda.gov/detail/clevelan…

Description
Fun movement on steep slab and blocky sections up high. Good rock quality. This is a sport route: Good option for beginner lead climber who is comfortable on 5.8 top rope.
- P1: 30m, 5.6 - Steep slab moves to start. First bolt clearly visible, second bolt visible for tall people. Bolted anchor with rap rings is right above a grass ledge. Comfy little edge/ledge at anchor, but not enough for a clean rope stack. 4 or 5 bolts.
- P2: 20m, 5.7 - Move up & left to first bolt, then straight up to second bolt. Next, trend right towards anchor. Bolted anchor with rap rings. Anchors have a decent slab ledge to chill at. Enough room for rope stack. 3 to 5 bolts.
- P3: 25m, 5.6 - Fun blocky moves to the triangle boulder with chains on the right side. Sections are more 4th class than 5th, but good moves now and then. Anchor position is a bit awkward when tethered for rappel, but very good for belay. 3 or 4 bolts.
Rappel the route. Three rappels. 60m rope will make it, but 70m gets you there more comfortably.
