Description Suggest change

If there are a lot of people at Barskoon, this little waterfall gets you away from the crowd and can still be a lot of fun.  The main route is up the central region where the best ice is.  The top section was pretty thin when we climbed it, so you may be a bit run out while topping out.  At the top there are a coupe trees that are great for setting up a top rope or a rappel station from.  Once you've got your top rop set up, you can have a bit of fun with the side sections of the waterfall.

The left side of the waterfall is nice little shelves of ice split up with sections of rock in between.  Don't swing too hard or you'll lose all your ice.  When we were there to climb it, it didn't seem like it was possible to lead due to the ice thickness and quality, but perhaps someday it could be done as a separate route.

The Right side is also quite thin, but has more consistency.  There is about 2-3 cm of ice, but very little exposed rock.  Again, a very fun climb that looks like it could a mixed route above it, but the stone there just peels off the wall, making this unlikely.

Location Suggest change

If you take the correct road as described in the sub-area page, you'll not be able to miss this waterfall.  The approach is a grueling 10 meter hike to get from your parked car to the base of the waterfall.  Probably the shortest approach I've ever seen.

Protection Suggest change

Take a bunch of screws with you. For an anchor, a good sling and some lockers to set up a top rope is all you need. There really isn't good ice at the top to put in an Abalakov anyways, so stick with wrapping a tree.
