Description

Irish Curse is one of the few iconic mixed lines in Kinsman Notch. Horrifying and proud, this one has only seen a few ascents.

Left of Shamrock locate an overhanging prow, cut by a steep corner with bolts. Start up terrain of rock, turf, or ice (depending on the year) and meander your way up to the bolts and follow them to the top of the dihedral. After the dihedral follow a steep thin crack way out right with some spots that open up for cams. Finish up the crack and top out in the trees.

Location

Just left of shamrock. A bolted overhanging dihedral leading to a very steep right trending crack.

Protection

Screws, then bolts, then cams .3-#3 for the finishing crack.

A small sling/biner anchor is visible just right of center at the top of the Irish curse overhang. The route looks absolutely terrifying. Taken from the leftmost upper pillar of shamrock.

[Hide Comment] Bolts replaced as of 2/4/2021 with 3/8" stainless hardware. Should be good to go for many more years. Feb 8, 2021

[Hide Comment] Sure, the gear is hard to get in, but if I remember right this actually protects well. It feels silly, and kind of annoying, on a hard route when you're near the top having already done so much climbing, that your mind wanders towards calculating if you'll deck onto a neighboring WI3 and you have to protect as such. But, such is our life in New England sometimes. Training for the greater ranges. Feb 17, 2023
