Choss Buster (Maybe?)

5.9+, Sport, 70 ft (21 m),  Avg: 2.5 from 6 votes
FA: Todd Goss?
Arizona > Northern Arizona > Arizona Strip > Lime Kiln Canyon > Sacred Trust

Description

Begin up sticky, sharp light-gray limestone with small slanting ledges toward an alcove of sorts  (left-facing dihedral/ledge) with chert jugs under a hanging buttress. Then bump out right onto an arete toward the bolts and continue up more sticky darker-gray limestone to a two-bolt anchor. Above the anchor is another 45ft or so of great looking climbing with a crack just right of the arete (not bolted...yet).

If you know the actual name of this route, the number of bolts, and the first ascentionist, please PM me and I will update this page.

Location

Left side of The Wall In Between. Nice flat spot at base of route.

Protection

Somewhere around 9 bolts & 2-bolt anchor. Take some extras; please PM me and tell me exactly how many bolts and I will update this page.

[Hide Comment] The Mojave Limestone book says the second pitch has 9 bolts, but we couldn't find any. Maybe a trad pitch - but are there anchors on top..? Feb 21, 2022
[Hide Comment] We didn't see the upper pitch bolts(9) mentioned in the Handren guide. The Bibles also mentions a 2nd pitch but 4 bolts? Bible and Handren give Goss FA credit. Goss has 1 pitch and gives Hansen credit.
I actually enjoyed this route more than anything else in it grade. The rock is not as good as the bullet stone in Redbud Canyon but the movement is so much better and the rock is good enough. Also this thing get SUN on those cold days Mar 18, 2022
