Description Suggest change

This Maipo classic is one of the longer rock climbs in the Santiago region. It covers over 3000 feet of ground in anywhere from 14-20 pitches. The photo shows the general line of ascent. The lower section involves significant 4th class scrambling to the obvious ledge. The upper 1/3 of the route weaves in an out of chimneys and choss, topping out at over 4300 meters. Walk off to the north and back to the base.

Cerro Arenas is a prominent peak at the top of the Maipo Canyon. The S Face is obvious from the base. The bottom half of the route  follows the path of least resistance to the ledge, staying more or less in the middle of the face. From the ledge, the line should follow the S/SW buttress to the summit. Choose your own adventure.
