Description

After climbing one of the Slab Route pitches to approach, you can belay from a bolted anchor on the ledge.

Pitch 1 climbs a shallow corner to the right of the bolted anchor on the ledge or behind the large pinon tree. It gradually trends right, staying right of the three bolt chain anchor about 20 feet above the ledge. Belay at a bolted anchor at a stance, 125 feet, 13 bolts plus an anchor.

Pitch 2 climbs with easy edge pulling and slab moves to a bolted anchor under a large tree. If continuing above to In Between Slab or wanting a more comfortable belay position to bring up your second, then you may want to pass the anchor and belay off the tree, 70 feet, 7 bolts plus an anchor.

To descend, rappel 1 is a 70 foot rappel from the top anchor, below the tree. To gain that anchor, consider doing a short rappel or belay from the large tree to safely gain the anchor.

Rappel 2 (125 feet) won’t make it to the ledge with a 70 meter rope without some shenanigans. Instead, there is a three bolt anchor with chain about 20 feet above the ledge that can be used as an intermediate anchor.

Or, rappel both pitches with two ropes. Tie knots in the ends.

From the ledge above the Slab Routes, rappel from the two bolt anchor above Ladies First. Tie knots in the ends, as always!

Location

The rigthhand of two bolted routes, this starts behind the large pinon tree on the ledge. Look for the three bolt chain anchor 20 feet above the ledge.

Protection

13 bolts plus an anchor for pitch 1. 7 bolts plus an anchor for pitch 2.
