Colorado > S Platte > Crystal Fortress > REMF Wall

Description

Big Chicken Dinner is a fun route with a few strenuous moves off the deck to a good rest ledge then a longer section of thin but positive moves to the top.

Location

This is the rightmost route on the shield of less-than-vertical stone on the Southwest aspect of the crag. It starts a little lower and off to the right of the other two routes on the wall. Look for two bolts on the right of the slight overhang below the wall.

Protection

7 bolts to clippable anchors. Please toprope off your own gear.

[Hide Comment] The first time I did this route I approached from the left where you reach the other 2 climbs on this wall. I came back and did it from the start around the corner and personally think it’s best to skip the first 2-3 bolts here in the chossy corner and climb the upper part only. If you pull the roof on the right, it felt 5.11a. If you pull it left, it’s closer to 5.9/10a. Also, beware of death blocks before clipping the 2nd bolt above the roof. I pulled a huge one off today. [Hide Comment] I had my right hand in the bottom of the crack and left hand on a crimp, I think. Kept trying different beta, but I couldn’t even get off the ledge. Aug 10, 2020
