Batchelor Party at The Bowling Ally

5.10-, TR, 85 ft (26 m),  Avg: 2 from 2 votes
FA: Unknown or Charles Denton
Minnesota > Gunflint Trail

Description

Either nobody climbed here or there’s a reason nobody climbs here. Rock is very loose or crumbly all across the bluff. All potential routes are unclean and potentially dangerous of rock fall. DO NOT belay from below. Not a place for unseasoned climbers. Top rope set up. Route starts at the very bottom and climbs up onto lower dihedral, vertical finger crack, one 10- move and continues past standing resting ledge up 5.9-

There is a good potential rock face crack system left of this line on lower ledge.

Location

  • HoneyMoon Bluff at the east end of Hungry Jack Lake off the Gunflint Trail. Easy to find, google it. Short approach from parking lot. At the lookout on the other side of the railing to the far left (south).

Protection

Top rope - top belay only

[Hide Comment] This is also about 85 feet tall. Lower down and to the left of the lower platform to the base of the cliff. The beginning is a bit brittle and you will be forced into a crumbly dihedral until you can carefully move on to the arete (crux) and then up to middle platform. 2nd half of the climb is easier and very fun. rock quality improves a bit Jun 9, 2020
