Description Suggest change

The Pencil is the freestanding pillar found a couple pitches up on the route Polar Circus. Not generally climbed as part of the route (nor was it climbed as part of the first ascent of Polar Circus), it is usually not fully formed. When it does form, it is a wild pitch sporting fragile featured ice.

Location Suggest change

Climb the first two pitches of Polar Circus and come face to face with the Pencil. Climb easy ice around to the back of the pillar and belay behind it.

Protection Suggest change

3 piton anchor on the left at the top of the pitch. Standard ice rack.
