Description

Climbs up the corner with tenuous stemming and crimping followed by a couple of bulges and work right to finish at the shared anchor with Shoot Up or Shut Up and Frogs of a Feather.

Karly Kelley's High on Moab describes this as an old toprope that was recently equipped as a lead. Good climb on great rock in the corner with some softer rock in the bulges.

Location

Just left of Frogs of a Feather and Shoot Up or Shut Up is this corner climb. Sneak behind the bushes to get to the start.

Protection

Four bolts plus small gear for the start.

[Hide Comment] I added it and I did indeed climb it and thought Karl’s rating in the book was good enough. Sorry but no way this thing is a 12-. Jul 2, 2020
[Hide Comment] i don't climb at potash much, but when i do the first few pitches always feel stiff to me. i think it is the slippery sandy feel of the feet. Jul 2, 2020

[Hide Comment] Poor style Christopher David. I don't call people liars that I don't know. Not sure what I can say to get you to believe me. I TR'd the route but it went with relative ease despite the mouthful of dry vegetation I consumed. I wouldn't hesitate to lead it next time I'm there. I thought it was a good route that more should do, that's why I shared it as that's what we do on MP. If you wanted to argue it was harder than 11a, say mid 11 then I wouldn't really squabble too much about it. The bottom felt pretty techy and delicate and the top felt okay other than the vegetation I had to climb through. As it was I felt Karl had it fairly accurately graded in the book and I wasn't going to argue with him. Perhaps you should take issue with him.

Benchmark 11? What do you mean? Where in the US? What style of route? Look at my ticks if you think I'm a lying wanker but to me this route felt pretty accurately graded for Wall Street. Jul 8, 2020
[Hide Comment] Well then I would guess something has broken off the climb since you have last been on it Jul 13, 2020

[Hide Comment] Just climbed it. Fucking great but not a 12. The crux is definitely the dihedral which is hard if you're not used to climbing them, but.... there aren't any holds there to break, nor any bright spots on the desert varnish to suggest one was once there. It's just techy compression climbing for a few moves until you can reach up left. Jun 12, 2023
