Description
This is the std walk up. It's not even close to 3rd class, but it doesn't seem possible to add this as a route unless you choose a rating. Perhaps the admins could add 2nd to the choices. That being said, I don't think this is a 1. A sidewalk is a 1. Anyway, come summer I imagine this route is about as boring as it can get. On the other hand, during the spring season this is a really beautiful place to be. The earlier you can get to the top, the better the view of all the big east faces in the Whitney Group.
Location
The usual approach for this route is New Army Pass out of Horseshoe Meadows. From the pass @ 12,280 it's approx. 3 miles to the top with a gain of 1762. From the trailhead it all adds up to 4122ft of work. A great place to stay is at Long Lake. Then get up early and experience how sublime the High Sierra can be.
