Sublunary Flight

5.10c, Trad, 50 ft (15 m),  Avg: 2 from 2 votes
FA: Dave Evans & Todd Gordon, 1988
California > Tahquitz & Suic… > Suicide Rock > (t) Eagle Pinnacle

Description

This was a fun climb with sporty movement on really good holds, but note the flakes holding the pins and any gear you would place are extremely hollow and you probably wouldn't want to fall on them. Would be an excellent route if it got a few bolts.

Location

Route ascends the dark lichen covered face Between spider woman and sloppy seconds and is directly above lichen lovers.

Protection

2 fixed pins and thin gear. Hand size pieces for the gear anchor.

[Hide Comment] Ya, this would be an excellent candidate for retro development. Nov 12, 2019

[Hide Comment] I asked Dave about replacing the two pins with bolts and he did not agree. I also feel either pin would not hold a real fall so this route is more of a solo. Not an excellent route but good climbing. The days of keeping old pins on routes are over, they need to be replaced with bolts or removed. Jan 18, 2020

[Hide Comment] Put bolts in where the pins are. I will bug Dave to go up there and do this together. Thanks! Nov 6, 2023
