S Dakota > Custer SP > Tenpins/Switchb… > Tricouni Nail/Cerberus

Description

This route is just to the left of the Tricouni/Cerberus route. The first bolt is an obvious modern bolt, followed by two solid pitons, a super sketchy button head, then a large runnout (R) to a bolt near the top. The anchor is then built on the leftmost pinnacle.

[Hide Comment] TR'd this route the other day, happily, as it took a couple tries to get past the first bolt. Seemed a lot harder than most 10- routes around the Needles. Aug 4, 2019
[Hide Comment] Climbed this the other day and after clipping the button head, there was another modern bolt up and and probably 5 feet left of button head but before the last bolt described in route description- right along the arete. Didn't read about this in the description. Does anyone know if this was possibly added, or if it's not meant to be part of this route at all? Didn't see any other routes that it would belong to. Definitely a welcomed surprise though. May 30, 2020

[Hide Comment] Bridge,
I went and checked it out today and I don't remember that bolt being there last year when we climbed this route. I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure there was just the higher bolt right below the summit. May 30, 2020
[Hide Comment] It is probaly "rest" of our route from 2002 year. We drill bolts from skyhooks and we climbed the route at August 2002. I bent the drill while drilling the second hole. A passing climber throwed me his own drill to save me from delicate situation. Later has been told to me, there is a ban to create any new routes on the Tricouni Nail. So, I removed most of the hangers couple of weeks later. The name of the route was "Someone else's shame" . Aug 27, 2024
