Access Issue: NO DRONES ON NATIONAL PARKLANDS Details
All of the crags within the New River Gorge proper are on national parklands, and drone use is prohibited here. There has been some discussion about places to launch drones that are not on park property, and then flying them over the gorge. This is super poor form; don't do it.
The crux is near the top getting into a somewhat off chimney, the entire route follows a broken crack system separated by some sub-par rock. Watch the stairway on the way up to the route, the route gets its name from this stairway made up of several very large sheets of precarious rock...
The route is most easily approached Butchers Branch, if you continue hiking along the cliff-line you will run into a hanging metal ladder a 1/8 mile past butchers, from here you will hike another 300 meters. You will run into a large rock blocking the trail, trend up this rock along an arching small crack, you will tunnel through the boulder and access the route on the back (climbers right end of the boulder.) The route starts atop this boulder.
