Description Suggest change

Not nearly as classic as the Bastow Buttress scramble or the Pinnacle Rib Route climb, Nor' Nor' provides an enjoyable excursion with some non-trivial difficulties. Fortunately nearly all the difficulties can be bypassed to the right or by going into the gully with easy scrambling (though doing so considerably lowers the overall difficulty of the route).

Location Suggest change

The routes on the East Face of Tryfan are all accessible from the Heather Terrace. If approaching the Heather Terrace from the North, the first prominent buttress you come to is Bastow Buttress, the second is Nor' Nor'. From the entrance to Nor' Nor' gully scramble diagonally right before going up over flakes. The route becomes a series of rises. Most of the challenges alternate between 3rd/4th class scrambling and harder 5th class moves with minimal exposure. This changes about half-way up the route when the ridge begins to rise steeply. Make your way up the ridge heading for a perched block. There is a horizontal break which provides your last good protection before committing to a steep and unprotect-able knife-edge arete which is the crux of the route. Climb this and continue up the buttress, eventually passing over the Eastern Traverse Path.
