Description
This is the best, most fun climb up the river road. It offers a short approach and great rock. There are two bolted rap station at the top. The top 8 meters of the climb are runout scrambling over dirt and loose grass to the anchors. Use two ropes to rap. On this same formation are three other routes as well. One of them is a heinous run out slab climb, the other two are cracks. Above these climbs is a sweet splitter crack as well. It lies left of center on a triangular face.
Moon Crazed is typically climbed as a single pitch route by almost all parties. This pitch is technically pitch one of either the 4 pitch Moon Crazed line which finishes up the thin crack behind the pine tree or the rarely repeated "That Crack on the Salmon River" which tops out on Bliss buttress in about 9 pitches (or could walk off on The Cherry Tree Traverse after about 4 pitches).
Location
Coming from the Manning Crevice Bridge it is .4 miles on the right. Across from the climb on the other side of the river there is a small beach with an overhanging rock over the beach. As soon as the road turns to dirt you should start paying attention. The side of the buttress that “salmon river quiver” is on May be seen from the pull out. Park at this pull out which is on the river side, in front of the climb.
