Where Love Ran Red

5.9, Sport, 100 ft (30 m),  Avg: 3.1 from 24 votes
FA: Tony Calderone, John Davis, 2016
Utah > Wasatch Range > Central Wasatch > Big Cottonwood… > Disciple Ridge > Lower Sector

Description

This is the best of routes on the lower sector IMO; the first 40 feet are fantastic, then the quality drops a bit but the climbing remains interesting at the grade. Begin climbing an attractive, smooth face (crux) and follow bolts through more broken terrain to a great ledge and chains. Grade is from the Calderone guide.

Location

Maybe 40 feet uphill (right) of Where Love Flows Free.

Protection

Draws. Rap or lower from chains.

[Hide Comment] Super fun route. Be sure to bring 13 draws, or ready to have some fun on the run out to the chains. Sep 11, 2020

[Hide Comment] Great route. Above slab (which is really fun), route wanders up through steep terrain through bulges (also fun). Consider some longer draws or runners for some of the upper route, or you'll get rope drag. Aug 15, 2023

[Hide Comment] The crux is around the initial first 2 bolts. stick clipping the first bolt would be a good idea. The route veers left after the first ledge and lots loose rock at the top section. May 3, 2025
