Black Fly Arete

5.8 PG13, Trad, 200 ft (61 m),  Avg: 0 from 1 vote
FA: Scott Lovell, Jon Sykes, June 27 2014
New Hampshire > WM: Franconia N… > Hounds Hump Rid… > Long Wall

Description

From the talus, scramble up through thick vegetation to access a higher grassy ledge where the hidden slab will be visible. Climb mossy slab on run-out bolts to the blocky section. Climb up the blocks past one more bolt then climb up the extremely lose blocks above with dubious protection found in possibly more solid areas of rock. Belay from the solid tree at the top out. Bushwack around to the top of the gully Wall and walk around via the nice trail or rap off the bolts at the top of gully wall.

Location

Walk uphill from the Eaglet past a few bolted climbs on your left until you're in an open area of loose talus. The route climbs the low angle arete climbers right and below the sharp arete.

Protection

5? Bolts, nuts and cams to 1"
