Rat Rock Traverse

V0+, Boulder, 20 ft,  Avg: 2.7 from 11 votes
FA: unknown
New York > New York City > Central Park > Rat Rock

Description

Start:  At small "starter" flake on the overhanging right side of the north face.

Go:  Traverse left without using the top.  Return right.

The most frequently climbed problem in the park.

Note: Can't believe no one added it here before 2018. The most sandbagged V0 I've ever seen. Seems more like V4 in today's gym grades.

[Hide Comment] Agreed that the V0 is a sandbag, but once you've got the beta dialed, it feels closer to maybe a gym V2. Rat Rock's style takes some...getting used to.

For full value, reverse the traverse back to the starter flake and top out on "Little Overhang". Great warm-up to start a session. Apr 20, 2018

[Hide Comment] Oooh also fun historical fact: According to Vadim (resident Rat Rock sensei), this climb has seen an all-rollerblade "ascent". Apr 21, 2018
