Rage

5.12d, Sport, 60 ft (18 m),  Avg: 2.8 from 14 votes
FA: unknown
California > Sierra Eastside > Bishop Area > Pine Creek Canyon > Scheelite Canyo… > Planetarium / Gecko Wall

Description

This is a good route with fun, dynamic movement through the lower portion followed by technical, demanding climbing right before the chains.

It is marred by some chipped/glued holds through the crux, and that's why I assigned this route 2 stars instead of the 3 it would deserve otherwise. I can see why this was done, as without them the route would have a vHard boulder problem above 5.11+ climbing.

Location

Immediately left of atomic gecko. Starts up left-leaning features, before busting right below the big hole/ledge.

Protection

8ish bolts? So much easier to clip them when they are hanging already

[Hide Comment] does anyone know what the route is that starts at rage but then trends right and finishes on atomic gecko's anchor? Sep 4, 2018

[Hide Comment] Forrest, if you peruse the description of the Atomic Gecko closely, you'll see the following sentence:

Venture left at bolt 5 to the neighboring anchors to climb the variation known as Atomic Rage (12d).

It appears that your variation may be the reverse version of this? Egar Cimota? Sep 6, 2018
