Description

A giant curtain that sometimes touches down. When it does, expect weird sustained ice to a low angle ramp before doing more vertical ice to the trees.

Location

Park on the side of the road somewhere. I think there's a designated area that won't piss off the locals. Hike up a trail, belay below the curtain.

If you're unfamiliar with Humphrey's, this climb is "way around to the right" of the main cliff area. Driving from No.Conway/Cathedral, pass the main cliff face of Humphrey's and as the road descends and curves a bit left the climb is up on your left. There's usually a plowed area for 1-2 cars. Black Pudding and Barking Dog have become victim to a zealous plow truck driver. Don't even think about climbing here before, during, or after a storm. You will be ticketed and towed.

If you do climb here, make sure you're well within the confines of the white line. The approach is short but steep.

The route itself is quite fun, a classic NEI 4. Expect funky gear if the icicle hasn't touched down, pretty easy to assess from the road though. Don't miss the second pitch, it's steeper than it looks. Feb 13, 2018
