Climbers Partner with LDS Church on Stewardship of Little Cottonwood Canyon Climbing
June 1st, 2017:The Salt Lake Climbers Alliance (SLCA), the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), and Access Fund announce the signing of an unprecedented lease for 140 acres in Little Cottonwood Canyon (LCC). The parcel, known as the Gate Buttress, is about one mile up LCC canyon and has been popular with generations of climbers because of its world-class granite.
The agreement secures legitimate access to approximately 588 routes and 138 boulder problems at the Gate Buttress for rock climbers, who will be active stewards of the property. The recreational lease is the result of several years of negotiations between LDS Church leaders and the local climbing community.
Access Note: The climbs on the Church Buttress above the vault as well as the Glen boulders that have been traditionally closed will remain closed.
Please help us steward this area and leave no trace.

Description
Mostly lower angle ice that will only be climbable on low snow years. The last pitch makes it all worth doing.
Location
Park across the road from the Lisa Falls parking area and walk down the trail to the creek. Cross the creek and start making your way up and Left until you find a gully. Follow the gully to the base of the route. About a 30-minute approach from the parking area.
Protection
Three pitches, first pitch is the very easy low angle, WI2.There are slings on a small pine tree off to the right side. Second pitch goes up into the gully with a tree on the left side. Hike the gully to the base of the final pitch. The third pitch goes up a less then vertical ramp and finishes on about 40 feet of mostly vertical ice with a few steps. There is an old stopper and two pins off to the left side of the ice. Descend the route rappelling off trees
