Description

The fact that no one has added this route until now surprises me, noting that this may be one of the more enjoyable 5.13's at the Iris. Pretty much a roped boulder problem that requires you to fly and crank on steep pockets.

Location

Bolt line to the right of Poker Face.

Fun backstory to this route: I had bolted it one day and was cleaning it the next. I was up there working on it and had a distinct feeling that I was being watched. I looked down in the boulders and saw two teenagers peeking over a boulder watching me. They said "Looks cool". I replied that I thought it was going to be, but it was way over my head but I just wanted it to be done so I was getting it ready anyhow. That night I was wandering around camp and came across them. Turns out it was Tommy Caldwell and Chris Sharma, traveling with Tommy's (I think) dad, when they were young and Chris had just ripped through Utah and did Necessary Evil and a bunch of stuff at the China Cave in Logan. I told them to have at it, and they told me to try hard, I just might get it. I never did, and Matt did it first. So many years ago :) Oct 2, 2018
