The two areas Jefferson County Open Space intends to close in Clear Creek Canyon, shown on the attached maps, encompass the active eagle nests. If the Clear Creek eagles continue to nest in the active nests, these areas will remain closed from February 1 through July 31. If the eagles choose different nesting sites, the closures will be adjusted accordingly to protect those eagles during their breeding season.
Currently, rock climbing areas that fall inside of the seasonal raptor closures include:
Blonde Formation Bumbling Stock Evil Area Ghost Crag Highlander Skinny Legs Stumbling Block Tetanus Garden Fault Caves
June 7, 2021 - TBD: Highway 6 is currently doing full road closures from Sunday night to Friday morning every week. The closure is from the junction of Highway 119 and Highway 6 to the junction of Highway 40 and Highway 6 (mile post ~260 to ~257). Vehicles that remain in the closure will be towed at owners expense.
Sundays: 7PM-4AM Monday-Thursday: 4PM-4AM
Description
Start on a small ramp, and head up towards the large flake, which leads into a chimney section. Varied, moderate climbing leads to a crack for a gear anchor. A webbing rappel station with rings is up and to the right. If you would rather walk off, a lovely hike down is possible, which we titled "Cactus Surprise". This is another scattered, adventure, trad moderate in CCC. We are sure someone must have gone up this before us, but it showed no signs of it.
Location
The route is right and up a small hill from the rest of the routes at Punk Rock in a large, obvious corner.
Protection
SR to 4". A #6/Big Bro could eliminate the runout flake into the chimney, but then you would need a #6/Big Bro.
[Hide Comment] I really enjoyed this climb! The route is a bit dirty still, but the rock is great. The gear is also great although sparse in a couple spots, and there's a bit of a ledge fall potential at a couple spots. The tat up top has seen a good bit of UV damage but still looks decent. Should probably be replaced soon....

[Hide Comment] I put new webbing on the anchor today. If you have 3 quicklinks, it could be all metal. It is convenient to belay at the bolts instead of on gear up higher. A #7 Camalot would be great on this.
