Description

The most obvious route up the small crag at Glacier Point.

Lowest third involves a bit of good footwork, then an easy scramble for the middle third, then the top bit is probably the crux and trickier than it looks.

The base is on the disabled trail to Glacier Point so be very careful not to obstruct it - however the trail is very wide at that point - easily wide enough for buggies with room left over for ropes and a belayer. It may be worth checking with the rangers in the gift shop that it's OK to do this, though a ranger was supportive of our efforts!

Suspect there are other routes up the same crag which could be done with a bit of tweaking of the same anchor.

Location

There are two paths from the car park to Glacier Point itself - one high, and then a lower disabled route. The crag is between the two.

This route starts with a triangular notch at the bottom. Just go up from there!

Protection

Easy walk to the top of the crag. Bring a long static line to build an anchor from a tree (about 30 foot away) and a big obvious boulder.

[Hide Comment] This is not 30 feet, maybe 15-20ft at best. Don't waste your time on this. This is fine if you have a 2 year old. Boring. Nov 15, 2019

[Hide Comment] This looks like a fantastic route as a first (or second) route for kids to TR. Well done FA team! Looking at the shared last names, I imagine it could have been a son-father team or son-uncle or brothers. What a nice project for a family. Jan 29, 2024

[Hide Comment] Not really a technical rock climb but ok for kids I guess if you want to climb in a crowded area. This would be 4th class anywhere else in Yosemite or the Sierra Nevada. Also it’s definitely not even close to 30ft for the steeper scrambling. Maybe 15-20ft Feb 25, 2024
