Access Issue: Private Property Details
The approach road (County Road 411/Trail Lake Road) runs through private land on an easement from the Whiskey Basin wildlife reserve to the public campground at the head of Ring Lake. It is illegal to leave the road without permission from the landowners in this area except for the boat ramp at Torrey Lake provided on a goodwill basis.
There is a subsidiary pinnacle just to the northeast of the start of Mountaineer's Route. Trevor Bowman calls this diminutive summit "David Spire" in his guidebook. The west face (Tourist Route) is a short and easy scramble with a nice view of Mountaineer's Route.
It's on the west face of "David Spire," the northeastern sub-summit of Trail Lake Pinnacle/Goliath Spire.
