Protect Access in Owens River Gorge! Details

Description

This is the dihedral you see when arriving to Social Platform. It climbs pretty well despite its unkempt nature. Some scrappy flakies inside the crack should clean up with more ascents.

Getting over the first bulge is ugly and awkward, and a 5" cam may help. Then its a long stretch of moderate jamming and stemming to the anchors.

Location

Obvious dihedral encountered upon reaching the Social Platform.

Protection

Single rack to 5"
Two bolt anchor

You'll have to run it out with a single rack, and the rock inside the crack is bad enough in spots that you need to be careful that your placements won't explode the rock if you fall on them. I recommend doubles in the 2" to 4" range, perhaps even triples in the 2-3" range. Oh, and there's little use for anything smaller than a 1" piece so leave the smaller stuff. Nov 10, 2017
