Description

Indy's suggestion:
Start directly above the point where the trail meets the cliff at the left-facing flakes/corner. Soon after start, move slightly right in order to continue up a series of overlaps that lead to a small roof below a clean 20' slab. Climb the corner to the left to the slabby wall and finish through the notch to the rap station at the pine tree on the ledge. Beware ants at the belay/rap station (but enjoy the blueberries when in season!).

Location

Rap station is small tree with backup tricam in anchor building crack. The ledge is small but can likely fit three sitting down.

Rap down allows access to blue berries and black berries when in season.

If you traverse right across the top of the slab wall from the rap station to the next obvious arete you will be climbing up The Howling Arete 5.8

I believe this is where The Howling starts and someone simply set up a bail rap. station at the small pine ledge. I have two videos back to back here with the second ending at the Howling Arete ledge which later I led School house rock from the same day (which is what I thought I was leading from the small ledge seen in this video)

Nothing really stellar about this video, second pitch starts about 15m in and it is more memorable than the first pitch if you are doing this as split pitches and not one pitch.

Still unsure if this is the right path as the description is vague on start / finish.

Upgrading anchors at howling ledges (red webbing and extra ring for SHR anchor)

Haven't worked out a good way to "tag" these anchors with dates which wont deteriorate so one could more easily judge the anchor material so this post will have to do for now. Aug 7, 2017
