[Hide Comment] Tremendously fun project with a soft landing if you fall. Great for getting a little bit of pump on while at the beach.

This felt like a V3 to me. Hard to tell since I was climbing it without shoes (ha ha, just as the route says). I actually thought I was inventing a new route and went to add it, only to find this here! The funny thing is that I was going to name it almost exactly the same thing. :-) Either way it felt at least a grade more difficult than the Little Violin, and my hands and feet got sliced up (bleeding) for my efforts.

Since I thought I was making up a new route, I did a sit start in the sand, then worked my way up to the crux overhang. I used a heel hook to get my right hand up over the lip, then some incremental moves to eventually heel hook again over the lip this time, and eventually stand up. Once you're past the crux the rest is pretty easy and forgettable, so rather than top out you might just jump down.

Perhaps I didn't do the "proper" beta, but needing heel hooks on an overhang seems like V4 movements to me. The Little Violin was straightforward all the way up. Then again, maybe I just needed some proper shoes for this climb! Jun 17, 2022
