Description

Burly little route that stays on you almost all the way. May be 12a espec for shorter folks. Slightly overhanging.

Location

The west face of tower 3 has a tree high up that marks the location of this route. The start of the route is a left-trending crack leading to an obvious undercling flake. Then a height-dependent crux with an insecure finish.

Protection

6 bolts + snap-hook anchor.

John, I don't think there have ever been slash grades that span numbers (10d/11a, 11d/12a, etc.).

Are 11d/12a, 11d+, or 12a- all the same thing? :) Jun 15, 2017

10a, 10a/b and 10b are all available as ratings.

10a/b is half a letter harder than 10a.

Logic dictates that 11d, 11d/12a and 12a should ALL be available as well.

11d/12a is simply half a letter harder than 11d.

(Although I'm really shooting for the proper level of VAGUENESS since I can't rate new climbs... :[ ....) Jun 15, 2017

JJ....after 41 years of climbing I totally understand ratings. And I don't think MP ever allowed 11d/12a (or 10d/11a etc). That's not the question. It _should_ be allowed. Code can be changed and updated !! I did that for 45 years ! Jun 15, 2017

Copy that jbak. I think mentioning it in the route description the way you have seems fine to me. I did put it up for discussion with the other admins, but I think most of us don't see it as an issue. However, Nick and crew are constantly overhauling the site so you never know, it might pop up down the road. Thanks for your all your hard work. Jun 15, 2017

I thought we all assumed that ratings can go either way by a letter or two. Jeez, those numbers are just a start until others add their thoughts on the routes rating. I think anyone who claims a route is a letter grade different is being silly. Miss a hold and it is harder, find a small one no one uses and it is easier blah blah blah! Someone has retired JJ, get ready for more of this! Jun 15, 2017
