100 Year Flood

5.10c, Sport, 60 ft (18 m),  Avg: 2.9 from 10 votes
FA: Matt Delheimer and Jon Guczek, 03/17
California > Northwest Calif… > Marble Caves > 1. Poison Garden

Description

Slightly overhanging on mostly big holds; a good warm-up for the harder offerings at the Caves.

Start up a slab, clipping the second bolt off a large flat hold. Crux comes passing this bolt and gaining the corner/ramp system using some weird stemming and a hidden pocket. Continue up the corner to a small ledge, bear-hug a huge block, and finish up jugs to the anchor.

Location

Middle of the Poison Garden, where you emerge from the trees. Look for a right-leaning ramp/dihedral down low.

Protection

7 bolts, lower-off anchors.

[Hide Comment] Great climb all around, but shorter members of our party mentioned they felt like they'd be pulling the low crux before being able to clip the bolt meant to protect it. The stemming moves looked a lot dicier for short folks as well, but probably still only 10+ at the worst. Jun 22, 2022

[Hide Comment] Interesting, I thought the clips were pretty comfortable, although I don't remember exactly where the crux is. I usually try to consider shorter people when bolting (my better half is 5'3") but can't get them all right... Jun 22, 2022
