Description

Stand start with a hand or two on the arete, go up. The first moves are burly, and then it's more technical and mental. Tall, a little chossy, stepped landing. In the shade all day. Downclimb off the back and jump to a pad.

Word around the crag is that somebody cut down a tree (not cool) a few years ago to reveal and climb this boulder. The tree has since died and the stump has been moved.

You can start lower, maybe adds a grade. Stand start goes V2-4, probably not any harder than that though.

Starts and climbs on the other side of "Unnamed Arete."

Location

If you're looking at Mozart traverse it's the arete on your left.

Protection

Lotsa pads. There is a point in the climb you can fall off the other side of the arete too. So consider padding that side.

Great job! During the Northridge Quake this boulder rocked back from vertical to where it is now. Apr 20, 2017
