Description

This has interesting start moves to the first bolt followed by sustained 5.8 slab to the roof. Find the jugs over the roof, and get a high left foot on the lip to reach the last bolt and the anchor. The start and finish cruxes bump this to 5.9.

Location

It is the farthest left route on High Wire directly adjacent to Pony Up.

Protection

8 bolts comfortably spaced to a 2 bolt anchor with quicklinks.

  5.9+
[Hide Comment] Very fun climb that's not in the guidebook. Always remember to reference Mountain Project in addition to using a book! The crux over the bulge did feel harder than 5.9, but I think it's totally dependent on your comfort with manteling. I think solid 10 climbers will find this easy vs. those new leaders who might have a tougher time with the spookiness. 5.9+ seems solid. Nov 20, 2017

[Hide Comment] This climb was not in the 2014 Capps/Lloyd guide, but is in the 2017, 2nd ed. Capps guide. The new guide has this,\ and tons of other new routes, plus new sections and updates from the 1st ed. Well worth owning if you climb in Clear Creek at all. Apr 30, 2018

[Hide Comment] Great route all the way to the top! Don’t sleep on it down low. 9+. Jul 3, 2019
[Hide Comment] The lowering biners at the top are worn super thin. The quicklinks were the sketchy made in China unrated style. The bolts look good, but the rest is definitely due for replacement. Not sure the next time I'll be up there, but I'll come with the tools/hardware to replace, and I recommend anyone wanting to do this route does the same. Mar 12, 2024
