For more details visit: jeffco.us/open-space/alerts…
The two areas Jefferson County Open Space intends to close in Clear Creek Canyon, shown on the attached maps, encompass the active eagle nests. If the Clear Creek eagles continue to nest in the active nests, these areas will remain closed from February 1 through July 31. If the eagles choose different nesting sites, the closures will be adjusted accordingly to protect those eagles during their breeding season.
Currently, rock climbing areas that fall inside of the seasonal raptor closures include:
Blonde Formation
Bumbling Stock
Evil Area
Ghost Crag
Highlander
Skinny Legs
Stumbling Block
Tetanus Garden
Fault Caves
Description
This has fun climbing with good movement. It seemed easier than 11b to us on that day. The crux is in the first half of the pitch. This needs some more lichen removed, like all the routes here.
Location
It is just right of Son of Flubber and left of Team Umizoomi. This looked like the 3rd bolt line from the left.
Protection
The guidebook lists 10 bolts (there are more!) to a two bolt anchor. It is closely bolted. Edit: looking at the guidebook, this route clips two more bolts to a higher anchor (past some serious lichen). Done this way, there are even more bolts, and the route is longer, i.e. does a 60m rope still work? 14 bolts?
