Description

A fun variation to a classic climb. Start as for Mothra Stewart but once you make the long reach and the hard match keep moving left for another move or two and make a huge iron cross to a far jug (crux) from there continue straight up the face on some smaller holds and topout high off the deck.

Location

Same start as for Mothra Stewart. Located on the backside of the Ride the Lightning boulder.

Protection

3 or 4 pads, spotters.

[Hide Comment] I really like this line. It has the same fun moves as for Mothra Stewart but adds a hard iron cross move. I'd love to hear what more people thing on the grade. For me it didn't feel much harder than Mothra Stewart (It only adds one hard move) so I gave it V8 for now. Here is a video of my buddy Alex sending it. He is on the taller side so the moves don't look as big for him. youtube.com/watch?v=FBNyebR… Dec 13, 2016
[Hide Comment] Kozo Nozawa did the fa of the left. Three of us did it that day and thought same grade as well. Dec 16, 2016

[Hide Comment] For me Mothra earns the V8 and this variation feels a grade harder. I could not call them the same grade, and would not downgrade mothra so I'm calling it V9. Feels on par with other climbs of the grade. Really enjoyable though I like this finish better than the normal variation! Topout is great! Oct 17, 2017
