Description Suggest change

Starting where you would start Vawter's Dihedral, continue up the excellent short crack that leans right. Where the crack ends, traverse about eight feet to the right, above a muddy drop-off. Climb straight up, into an alcove.

I belayed in the alcove, so I could communicate with Beke (pronounced "bee-key") , who had not previously climbed outside. From here, you can climb over the bulge that defines the alcove, or scramble left (exposed) to the anchors above Vawter's Monger.

BTW Beke climbed this more easily and quickly than I did. Along with his friend Yonk, we toproped the Rift, etc. Date: Feb 17, 2016.

Location Suggest change

Start as for Vawter's Dihedral.

Protection Suggest change

The crack eats the hand-sized that feeds it. Protecting the traverse took some thought and effort. Bring a #4 to protect or anchor in the alcove.
