Up, Up, and Ahueco

V3, Boulder, 8 ft (2 m),  Avg: 2.7 from 3 votes
FA: unknown
Colorado > San Luis Valley > Quarry

Description

This is a really fun problem. SDS on the far right side in a couple of bomber huecos. Bust up and left across a good rail and huge huecos with right foot heel hooks. Then do a difficult throw, and match over the blank section (crux) to easier climbing to the left of the boulder.

Location

Park where the 4WD road branches left, and hike up the open meadow with boulders on the right and left. This problem is on the left side and can be seen easily from the meadow.

Protection

A couple pads as the line traverses.

[Hide Comment] Maybe walk more than 100m from the car and spend more than a couple hours in the Quarry before thinking the first butt dragger, lowball, POS you come to is one of the best climbs anywhere. The Quarry has many, actual high quality lines. Claim an FA if you like, I personally never climbed on these, but there are established problems 50m away. Although Gill was here in the '70s or '80s and Bobby D. includes it in his guidebook, there seems to be no major interest or development until ~2008 when Morgan Barnes and myself started combing the area and establishing/reclimbing most of the boulders. A few double digit problems have been put up by Mike Vice and Ryan Sylvan, and hard projects remain for those with steel cables for tendons. Check out 27crags.com/crags/the-quarr… for a more complete list of climbs in the Quarry (and the SLV). Dec 29, 2017
