Craton Hop (Right Side)

5.7, TR, 25 ft (8 m),  Avg: 2.5 from 2 votes
FA: unknown
Massachusetts > Eastern, MA > Rattlesnake Rocks > Shield

Description

Start with an easy climbing to a ledge positioned underneath the slightly-overhanging, outside corner (climber's right). Pull some slopers and pockets on your right, and a few crimpers on your left, as you straddle the corner. Reach for the upper crack on the front face, and "hop" your body to reach the juggy ledge. Finish with a fun jug-haul to the top.

Location

This is the rightmost route on The Shield. Look for the slightly-overhanging, outside corner. The line runs parallel to the maple tree growing in front of the face. A toprope fall from the crux will swing you away from the face and into this maple tree.

Protection

A toprope.
