Balanced Rock Ridge

5.4 PG13, Trad, 250 ft (76 m), 3 pitches,  Avg: 2.9 from 7 votes
FA: unknown
Wisconsin > Baraboo Range > Devil's Lake > Linkups, Contri… > E Bluff Linkups

Description

Begin by picking a route on Balanced Rock Wall. Then, depending on your choice of route on Balanced Rock Wall either select a route in Box Canyon, or gain the ridge proper immediately to the northeast of Balanced Rock. After the pitch above Box Canyon the route becomes a combination of short, blocky, steps mixed with the occasional "gendarme". The exposure on the upper ridge is never tremendous, but there are some high consequence areas. Top out just below where the Balanced Rock Trail Joins the East Bluff Trail.

Protection

Above Box Canyon effective protection might be difficult to find.

[Hide Comment] We did Sunken pillar first, then down climbed into box canyon and continued on, it was a lot of fun. After you climb whatever route you choose out of the box there is some fun ridge action. Jul 21, 2019
