Description

Update, August 2020. The Online Sector of Static Point has been rebolted, and at the FA team request, Online has been retro-bolted to invite more climbs. Don't worry, there is still plenty of runout - while the 33m 5th pitch is protected by 7 bolts, earlier pitches are up to 48m and only offer a handful of protection points, a mix of bolts and a few gear placements.

Full information including topos can be found here: LINK.

Location

Online is the first route found at the base of Static Point - the first bolt 30' off the ground should get your attention and also set the tone for the rest of the climb.

A new rappel route, with anchors, allows for the use of a single 60m rope. Description in the link above.

Protection

There are 2-7 bolts per pitch with bolted anchors.

A single set of cams #0.3-#2 or 3 and a single set of stoppers #4-10 should cover most gear opportunities on any route in this Sector.

A full topo is available at the link in the Description.

[Hide Comment] If I remember right, you use the cams on the 4th pitch. And there might have been a placement on the 1st. Jul 22, 2016

[Hide Comment] Really a great climb. The crux pitch has some well spaced bolts and stiff slab moves, very exciting. Its a shame the road has deteriorated making the hike in a bit tedious. Aug 22, 2016

[Hide Comment] By road, Dirk, do you mean trail? From my recent experience, there wasn't much opportunity to drive in further on the road. It's the trail that has deteriorated. Aug 27, 2016

[Hide Comment] The trail in was in good shape in 2015, quite easy to follow. Aug 27, 2016

[Hide Comment] It looks like there was major progress on the rebolting effort. Currently the anchors for the 1st three pitches have fat modern stainless rap rings. Anchors for P4 and P5 (and probably 6, although we skipped it) have a mix of older 3/8"&1/4" bolts, and button heads but some new holes have already been drilled for new hardware. Some new bolts have been added here and there on some of the bigger runouts on the lower pitches. Currently fixed lines span the entire length of this route and Offline to the right. I used .5-.8 Totems, .5 & .75 BD C4s, #1-3 Trango Ball Nuts, and a handful of draws. I find the Ball Nuts slip under the tiny granite overlaps and thin flakes where nothing else will- they at least provide some psychological fortitude on some of those runouts. Trail was pruned and in good shape as of 9/2019. Sep 8, 2019

[Hide Comment] Online - and the entire Online Sector - has been completely rebolted. In addition, Online was retro bolted at the request of the FA team, who wanted more climbers to visit this area. Don't worry, it's still runout! Just not so much as before. If you want a real runout, you should try the crux pitches of Right Line!
