Establish base camp at the junction of Willesden Road and Uxbridge Road, and from there climb steadily to establish camp two, outside Lewis's.

From there the FA team took another three days to establish camp three, outside the post office.

Get an early start (avoiding traffic) for the final assault.

The first ascent party describes this grueling final ordeal in a classic British down-play:

" Well, it's a bit gripping is this, Chris. (heavy breathing interspersed) I've got to try and reach that bus stop in an hour or so and I'm doing it by...(rearranging rope) damn ... I'm doing it, er, by laying back on this gutter so I'm kind of guttering and laying back at the same time, and philosophizing."

Gear: Pegs, lots of them - and Bedayn carabiners (you will need to double up on these).

Descent: Easy walk-off to surprisingly close tea and bikkies.

We got on this route last week...and its spectacular! the route is a lil dirty in spots but should clean up nicely with more traffic. Make sure and bring extra alcohol(preferably wine) as your bivy maybe crowed with other homeless derelict's. Our party felt that the A0 rating maybe a tad soft and would go with A0+R/X. May 13, 2016
