Rocking Chair Direct

V10, Boulder, 35 ft (11 m),  Avg: 3.8 from 4 votes

Description

Rocking Chair Direct is the left side of the Rocking Chair Boulder. Sit start on the obvious ledge that is low on the left side of the boulder. Work your way through some crimps and slots to the lip. Mantle over the lip and on to the slabby arete above. Top out on interesting seams, crimps, and slopers.

Protection

2 pads. The lower section really only requires 1 pad, but once you reach the lip you will be hanging precariously over a slanted boulder that is directly below you. While the boulder below the lip is padable, it is on an awkward slant which resembles falling on to a sliding board. Good luck!

[Hide Comment] An amazing boulder! The technical cruxes are early, and consist of 1) moving off the start hold into the undercling (multiple options), and 2) after hitting the lip with your left hand, moving your right hand up to the face hold under the right lip (typically done with a tension-intensive heel hook). But power endurance seems to be the limiting factor, and standing up over the lip gets desperate! This climb is a popular first v10 (myself included), perhaps because indeed no individual move is crazy hard. Nov 4, 2020
