Wicket

M6 PG13, Sport, Mixed, 40 ft (12 m),  Avg: 2.5 from 4 votes
FA: McKenzie Long
California > Eastern Sierra > Lee Vining Cany… > Lee Vining Ice… > Narrows - Left

Description

Short, scrappy and surprisingly tough. Just like the Ewok it is named after.

Wicket climbs a a short left leaning crack past three bolts to a two bolt anchor. This route was bolted to help hone your granite dry tooling skills. It requires a number of torqued tool placements since the crack has very few constrictions.

Wicket is also a good warm up for the longer more difficult mixed routes on the other side of the Narrows.

This route was bolted top down by McKenzie Long and Luke Lydiard in December of 2015. First ascent was by McKenzie Long on New Years Eve 2015.

Location

The far right side of the left hand side of the Narrows just downhill from a large boulder.

Protection

Three QDs. Some will want an additional piece between the last bolt and the anchor. A blue Metolius fits here nicely.

[Hide Comment] Quite hard. I understand that some crucial piece of turf is gone, making this harder than the grade. I'm suggesting M7-, although perhaps the tech doesn't warrant that. Still--it's hard! Nov 24, 2025
