Description

About 20 feet right(climber's right) of Put Down Your Ducky (5.8) is this short bouldery route. Climb the bulge/shield feature on excellent rock using sidepulls, underclings and crimps. I recommend pre-hanging as many draw as you can, especially on the second hangar as some may find it a bit difficult to clip. Really fun sequence up to the fourth bolt and then cruiser jugs on less than vertical terrain past the fifth and final bolt and on to the anchors.

Location

Dutch Rudder is located on climber's right from Put Down Your Ducky on Sink's Main Wall. These two routes are just up canyon from all of the moderates located to the left of Killer Cave. The next route to the right from Rudder is Global Warm-up.

Protection

Quickdraws. Five(5) bolts and a set of Fixed ring anchors.

[Hide Comment] pulling the bulge at the bottom makes this route worth doing but definitely among the lesser quality 12a's in the canyon.

some balance moves from the bottom to a bouldery move on poor feet above bolt 1. more insecure feet and decent pockets/side pulls get you to bolt 3. make it past this and enjoy chossy 5.7 climbing to the anchors.

short, hard to grade but worth it for the boulder problem at the bottom Jun 5, 2018
