Description

This ferrata is rated as difficult. It is a very recent addition to the Ferrata within the Dolomites range. It climbs 700 meters of cable up the face of Monte Faloria immediately beneath the cable car that accesses the summit. There is some spectacular exposure, very steep sections and a bar and restaurant at the top with a cable car directly down to the parking lot within Cortina. Plan on a half day for the round trip, longer if you intend to go for a long hike down.

Location

This route ascends the large West face of Crepe di Faloria - the wall that is directly East of Cortina. To access the route drive or hike the circular loop around town and pull off in the parking lot on the East side of town at the Faloria Cable car. Parking: East side of Cortina in the large car park next to the Faloria cable car.
Approach: You will need to ascend a trail on the East side of the parking lot for about 1:40 minutes that winds beneath the cable car, or purchase a ticket for half way (off at the Mandres middle station) and then hike about 1 hour further uphill on trail #206 to access the start of the cable.
Descent: Either buy a cable car ride down, or go for a nice long descent down a selection of trails that wind back into town. Path #212 down to the Mandres station and the trail you started on . Path #212 going North offers another longer option that eventually relinks with #206 and the Mandres station.
